The Philippine city of Santa Rosa in the province of Laguna is poised for spectacular expansion over the next 20 years. Its prime location is between the sprawling congested metropolis of Manila's National Capital Region and all the exciting vast expanses of dynamic industrial, commercial, residential and tourist developments now mushrooming throughout Laguna.

In 1571 the Spanish conquistador Juan de Salcedo made the first known reference to the small settlement by Laguna de Bay which more than two hundred years later was incorporated as the town of Santa Rosa in 1792. More than another two hundred years had then passed before it became incorporated as a first class city in 2004 when on the back of booming economic zones such as Laguna Technopark, Santa Rosa was regularly hitting the business headlines as a major Philippine growth area.

Now in 2010 Santa Rosa City finds itself in the right place at the right time to make an indellible impact on the history of the Philippine Republic in the 21st century. Not only have household-name multinational corporations galore established their Southeast Asian industrial and commercial operations here, but enormous tracts of virgin land are being imaginatively developed into well planned eco-friendly residential communities.

Metro Sta Rosa lies within daily commuting distance from Manila and yet offers the breathing space and healthy open-air lifestyle that urban living can never provide. Small wonder that so many families are eagerly rushing to build new homes and new lives here.

Welcome Message from Governor Lazaro

Welcome to LAGUNA – the land of the brave and the free. We welcome our visitors, investors and citizens to this prime province generously blessed with natural and human resources. Its breath-taking splendor is a sight to behold for adults and young alike.

From its people, history is replete with stories of heroism, foremost of whom is the country’s national hero. Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the pride of Malayan race, was born and raised in Calamba City, Laguna. Other illustrious sons and daughters played heroic deeds from the past to present. As a manifestation of its ciitzens' bravery and courage, one of the eight rays of the Philippine flag represents Laguna in the country’s fight for freedom from colonizers.

The present generation is also endowed with love of the province and its nation. Enjoy the therapeutic hot springs in Los Baños, the wonders of shooting the rapids in Pagsanjan Falls, surfing in Caliraya Lake, hiking in Mt. Makiling, the enthralling Enchanted Kingdom, and the lush nature of Hidden Valley. Be comforted by nature-filled resorts from Cabuyao to all parts of the province. The underground cemetery of Nagcarlan and centuries old churches and houses make Laguna a truly blessed place to visit and stay.

We take pride in our world class resources and facilities, from geothermal springs of Mt. Makiling to hydro-electric plants in Caliraya-Botocan to roads, bridges and other infrastructures. The province is gifted with world class industrial science and theme parks, producing everything from manufactured products and technological processes to information and communication technology hardware, software and services.

Have a taste of our luscious fruits, vegetables and rice from our farms along with our farm products of poultry and livestock. From Laguna de Bay, the country’s largest lake, the seven lakes of San Pablo City and other inland bodies of water savor our tilapia, bangus and native fishes.

Laguna's educational institutions such as the world center University of the Philippines Los Baños and hundreds of globally competitive institutions of learning, public and private, train our people for local and foreign employment. We continuously upgrade the literacy level of our people, develop and nurture the life-long learning capabilities and attitudes of young generation and adult alike.

We provide them with educational and development programs for their growth, and welfare services so that they will be formed with correct values as peace-loving technologically skilled and competent human resources with due regard for the environment.

For you who share our blessings and vision, we welcome you to our bright and shining land, LAGUNA!

      INVITATION TO HELP BEAT CORRUPTION

Dear Fellow Believers in Christ Jesus!
      Warm Greetings!
We are a group of Christians majority of whom reside in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. Galvanized by our collective desire to fight the most dreaded social disease afflicting our country called “CORRUPTION”, we have decided to organize an NGO we aptly named Christian Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (CITA). CITA was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission early this month.
We held the 1st CITA Convenors’ meeting last October 17, 2009 attended by the different church leaders from the cities of Paranaque, Muntinlupa, and Las Pinas and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon. By the grace of God, the meeting ended with a very encouraging response from the participants.
We are all witnesses to the devastation that runaway corruption has wrought upon our people and our country. Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng spotlighted the urgency of taking immediate action against corruption. Surely, we do not have to wait for the next natural calamity to happen before we are roused into collective action.
CITA views corruption as "SIN" and in obedience to our living and true God, the creator of all things who hates "SIN", we believe we should vigorously and openly reject "CORRUPTION" from the Barangay level all the way up to the highest office on the land.
CITA’s objectives are focused on educating the people on how we can beat "CORRUPTION" as people who believe in the God Almighty.
We look forward to your favorable support and cooperation.
      Thank you and God bless.
      Very truly yours,
      PETE L. ILAGAN
President, Christian Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (CITA)
