Corrupt politicians like Manuel Manoy Alipon and his gang of crooked cronies
are enemies of the people of every barangay of Santa Rosa City, of the province
of Laguna, and of the Philippine Republic. Backlash of people power has ended
Manuel Manoy Alipon's infamous decadent corruptions. His days are numbered.
PEOPLE POWER RULES! OUR NEW ERA HAS BEGUN! MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!
KUNG WALANG CORRUPT, WALANG MAHIRAP! MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
VOTE OUT CORRUPTION FOREVER! MAGNININGNING ANG PILIPINO!
All of you involved in wrong governance and have caused troubles to the people, I
guarantee you, your days are numbered. .... Tingin ko ay malapit-lapit na rin ang
panahong sasabihin ko sa kanila ay 'goodbye' at ang matatanggap naman nilang
'hello' ay ang pagpasok nila sa Munti. .... The trust of the people is fueling our
administration’s achievements. .... Our fight will continue and will not stop until the
necessary reforms are in effect." - President Noynoy Aquino
After voting out corrupt vice mayor Alipon, constituents of Santa Rosa City
Laguna Philippines were encouraged, inspired and delighted to hear that
Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo has urged
all city, municipal
and barangay officials to carry out their responsibilities with
transparency,
responsiveness, accountability and participation. He also advised punong
barangays to hold regular assemblies reporting to constituents about
their
programs, projects, staff and finances, including any problems, and
post their
itemized monthly collections and disbursements, and annual summaries of
income and expenditures, in conspicuous public places for all
constituents to
peruse and scrutinize. He reminded them it is incumbent upon barangays
to
provide required services to constituents efficiently and promptly and
that a
citizens’ charter, an information desk, and a disaster risk reduction
and
management committee would best enable them to achieve this. He called
for detailed inventories of barangay facilities and properties to
ensure they
are properly documented and accurately accounted for. He also urged the
formation of barangay bids and awards committees responsible for the
pre-
and post-qualification of bidders, and evaluating and awarding
contracts for
barangay projects to winning bidders. He asked for representation of
non-
government organizations and civil society organizations in
barangay-based
institutions, including barangay development council, barangay peace and
order council, barangay council for the protection of children, and
barangay
anti-drug abuse council. Let's use our People Power to ensure
compliance!!
Our barangay officials were elected to serve their constituents, not to
enrich
and empower themselves at public expense as Manuel Manoy Alipon did!!!!
Even as you read this, Alipon is scheming to rob Barangay Balibago
again..
ALWAYS VOTE FOR HONEST OPPONENTS OF ALIPON AND AND HIS GANG.
The city of Santa Rosa in the 1st District of Laguna province is less
than 1 hour's drive from Manila when traffic is light on the South
Luzon Expressway and up to 3 hours or more when traffic is heavy. It is
surrounded by thriving international industrial areas such as Laguna
Technopark and by the rapidly developing new exciting
cities-in-the-making such as Eton City, South Forbes Golf City, Nuvali
and Greenfield City.
Traveling around with a private battalion of armed thugs is the norm,
and murder of opponents by hired assassins is the evil corrupt shortcut
to political power.
In a country where political corruption is accepted, the most
successful corrupt politicians are rich and powerful. But two further
requirements have always been essential to achieving, maintaining and
increasing such dubious success. These two requirements are self
discipline and political intelligence.
Voters who love Santa Rosa and want a better future here for themselves
and their children used their voter power
on May 10 to junk Manuel Manoy Alipon to the hellfire and damnation
that his evil immoralities deserve.

"National and regional results of the the 2010
elections mean a GOD-driven fresh start for our country and a
GOD-driven fresh start for our city. Our time has surely come, and it
has come to stay. Let all the wonderful people of Santa Rosa embrace
this double blessing and double opportunity that GOD has brought to us.
HE has now placed our future in our own hands. Let us all move onward
and upward together to make it the best future that we could ever dream
of or wish for. Let our children and grandchildren rejoice with us,
because they will be the beneficiaries of our great and lasting
achievement."< - Voter Power
"The Aquino administration remains committed to fulfilling the promise of EDSA, the promise of true democracy, of a government that renders meaningful public service, and of a country in which power lies in the hands of the common citizen. This is why we are continuing to work to achieve a country where progress is inclusive, and where justice is dispensed fairly to all. The reforms we put in place have already yielded results, and we are continuing to implement them to weed out corruption in all sectors of society. The government continues to widen and improve access to social services, quality health and education, and other opportunities for advancement. These are key in our drive for inclusive growth, and we fully intend to build on our initial successes in the years ahead. We call upon the people, especially the youth, never to forget the legacy that People Power has given us." - deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte
So where can we start our
fresh start? How do we begin to create a better future for everyone?
The first answer is to transform Philippine education from the bottom
up and to make it affordable, appealing and available to adults as well
as to kids even in the remotest provinces.
"Three things kept coming up for every problem: corruption, weak
institutions and the people who run them -- the leaders. Well, where
are these leaders coming from? What is it that produces leaders that
are unethical or unable to solve problems? I went to look at what was
happening in our educational system. And it was the same -- learning by
rote -- from elementary school through graduate school. So I decided to
engage this particular problem. Because it seems to me that every
society must be very intentional about how it trains its leaders. So
we're now trying to train leaders of exceptional integrity, who have
the ability to confront the complex problems, ask the right questions,
and come up with workable solutions. I'll admit that there are times
when it seems like 'Mission Impossible'. But we must believe that these
kids are smart. That if we involve them in their education, if we have
them discuss the real issues that they confront -- that our whole
society confronts -- and if we give them skills that enable them to
engage the real world, that magic will happen." - Patrick Awuah
"We have to go from what is essentially an industrial model of
education, a manufacturing model, which is based on linearity and
conformity and batching people. We have to move to a model that is
based more on principles of agriculture. We have to recognize that
human flourishing is not a mechanical process, it's an organic process.
And you cannot predict the outcome of human development; all you can
do, like a farmer, is create the conditions under which they will begin
to flourish. So when we look at reforming education and transforming
it, it isn't like cloning a system. There are many great models. It's
about customizing to your circumstances, and personalizing education to
the people you're actually teaching. And doing that, I think is the
answer to the future because it's not about scaling a new solution;
it's about creating a movement in education in which people develop
their own solutions with external support." - Ken Robinson
"Radical innovation often comes from places where you have huge need,
unmet, latent demand and not enough resources for traditional solutions
to work. When you go to places like this what you see is that education
in these settings works by pull, not push. Most of our education is
push. When we get to school, things are pushed at us, knowledge, exams,
systems, timetables, but they need to start education from things that
make a difference to them in their settings. What does that? Well, the
key is motivation. Waiting 10 years for the payoff from education is
too long when you need to meet daily needs, when you've got siblings to
look after or a business to help with. So you need education to be
relevant and help people to make a living there and then. Sebastiao
Rocha in Brazil has invented more than 200 games to teach virtually any
subject under the sun. In schools and communities the day always starts
in a circle and always starts from a question. Imagine an education
system that started from questions, not from knowledge to be imparted,
or started from a game, not from a lesson, or started from the premise
that you have to engage people first before you can possibly teach
them. And they all treat learning, not as some sort of academic,
analytical activity, but as something that's productive, something you
make, something you can do, perhaps earn a living from." - Charles Leadbeater
"Our set of experiments in India showed that the remoter the primary
school the worse its results seemed to be, and 69% of teachers in
remote areas would prefer to work in modern urban schools so teacher
motivation and teacher migration powerfully correlated with what was
happening there, as opposed to whether the children have enough to eat
and whether they are packed too tightly into classrooms. But
Educational Technology is always piloted first in what are already the
privileged urban schools with the best results, although the relative
change it would make would be far greater with the underprivileged, not
the other way about. So what was our conclusion? It was that primary
education can happen on its own, or parts of it can happen on its own.
It does not have to be imposed from the top downwards. It could perhaps
be a self-organizing system. We found that 6 to 13 year-olds can
self-instruct in a connected environment, and if they have access to a
computer they will teach themselves. Our experiments proved
conclusively that without any adult supervision even the remotest and
poorest children can self-organize and attain an educational objective." - Sugata Mitra
"Science tells us that you are in charge, that it's under your control,
that your happiness, well-being, abilities and capacities are all
capable of continuous modification, continuous improvement, and only
you are responsible for this." - Michael Merzenich
"Reform is a fundamental theme of this administration: first to rid
ourselves of corruption and second to shore up our competence. We will
play a key role in ensuring that reform takes place at all strata of
government. Indeed, the pillars of justice stands firmly only when the
DoJ and all its attach agencies are performing up to par. Therefore, it
is imperative that any grand effort to reform government in this new
administration must begin with the most stringent and ardent efforts to
reform the DoJ itself. From the CHR, I am well versed in the weakness
of the WPP and I have been tremendously troubled by the injustices that
emanate from its failure to be 100 percent effective. I humbly offer
you my devoted leadership just as I will ask you to offer your
experience, knowledge and expertise." - Justice Secretary Leila De Lima
"The society is again united and the only ones who keep on complaining
like a
broken record are those who want to return to power to continue their
fun that
comes from our oppression. .... They are the ones who brought the
problems we
are shouldering now and they have the temerity to attack us
continuously. Are
you still going to pay attention to them? Are you going to be deceived
again? ....
Those who want to maintain the old system really want to destroy us,
they are
like huge crocodiles who prey on government coffers. .... Remember that
while
many of our countrymen are concerned for the country, there are a few
whose
interests are to continue the bickering. .... I have long appealed to
those who do
not want to join us in the right path. .... Following the straight path
is no joke. ....
We are serious when we say we will walk the straight and narrow path.
.... All of you
involved in wrong governance and have caused troubles to the people, I
guarantee
you, your days are numbered. .... Tingin ko ay malapit-lapit na rin ang
panahong
sasabihin ko sa kanila ay 'goodbye' at ang matatanggap naman nilang
'hello' ay ang
pagpasok nila sa Munti. .... The trust of the people is fueling our
administration’s
achievements. .... Our fight will continue and will not stop until the
necessary
reforms are in effect." - President Noynoy Aquino
"Business leaders here in America are excited about the new
administration, the new opportunities, and we hope there are ways the
American businessmen can participate and hopefully move the Philippines
forward. There’s a lot of opportunities and we’re excited to work with
the
President’s Cabinet. Transparency, good governance, ridding of
corruption is really critical to American companies and companies from
all over the world being enthusiastic about the Philippines.
Corruption always has a double deterrent effect. Additional to ethical
problems, corruption adds another layer of cost that makes a lot of
doing business in the Philippines uneconomical." - Alex Feldman,
President of US-Association of Southeast Asian Nations Business Council
Already the impact made by President Aquino on the world at large has
resulted in a dramatic upsurge of foreign investment. In a report
issued by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas the net inflow of foreign
investments up to November 12, 2010, reached $3.44 billion (US Dollars)
compared to only $372 million for the same period in 2009 under the
previous administration. These portfolio investments are in addition to
the billions of dollars of job creating new developments secured by the
President from global conglomerates with existing presence in the
Philippines, particularly from the USA and Japan. BSP governor Amando
Tetangco Jr. stated: "There is significant amount of liquidity
globally, and part of this liquidity is going to emerging economies
like the Philippines." This measurably demonstrates the world's new
confidence in us following the May 2010 Elections, and will have
far-reaching effects on the whole Philippine economy. Mr. Tetangco
added: "Credit is already growing. However, we have this huge liquidity
available in the system for deployment into productive activities, and
so there is room for further increase in bank loans." Now is time for
existing Philippine businesses to expand, and for entrepreneurs to
start up new ones. The Aquino administration's Public-Private
Partnership program is expected to stimulate growth on a bigger scale
and also create many more jobs. When the corruption is eradicated from
top to bottom at all levels of government, every Pinoy will experience
the benefits of health, education, opportunity and prosperity.

"Never give up. Believe in yourselves, believe in your own efforts, believe in our country and believe in your future." - Senator Manuel Roxas II

"If the Philippines is to end the politics of corruption and use of naked power, electoral reforms must start in earnest from all – the people, the leaders, and the politicians. It's time Filipinos got the governance they deserve. Electoral reforms must also be seen in the electorate itself and
the politicians. People need to stand up for what is good for them, and to demand concrete solutions to problems that ravage them. We must finally overhaul the rotten political system that has only made our people miserable, and this we can start with the use of appropriate technology to automate our elections. Some candidates believe that the only way to assure victory is to monkey with the results which happen in the long and slow count. These politicians are those who are willing to make fortunes from irregular deals and tainted projects, the proceeds of which would be used to win votes." - Senator Loren Legarda
(written before the May 2010 Elections, the first in the Philippines to be automated and which proved that Sen. Legarda was right. It gave People Power the long overdue freedom to vote out the destructive gangster Manuel Manoy Alipon and other corrupt local politicians of his type who had previously got in by buying votes, bribing officials and tampering with voters' lists and ballot boxes)
"We congratulate and support our new President in his efforts to reform and transform the Philippines into a clean (in every sense), modern, prosperous country. Where we can all help is with education. Living in city ghettos or rural areas need not disadvantage children in the future as it did in the past. The latest technologies can be harnessed to bring the highest standards of education to the poor as well as to the rich, giving opportunities for advancement to the poor that they never had before. And without corruption from top to bottom exponentially inflating the costs as it did in the past, this can be done within current education budgets because we can use our newfound People Power to monitor officials' performance and maintain transparent accounting procedures. We can demand to scrutinize and audit how every peso of public money is spent. Don't allow corrupt politicians like Manuel Manoy Alipon to sneak in again by the back door and destroy all the chances that God in His great wisdom has now given us to take several huge leaps forward in freedom, democracy, health, education, opportunity and prosperity for every Filipino in every province. God has clearly ordained that the Philippine Republic in the 21st century will belong to its voters and not to its politicians. At long last we, the people, are in powerful control of our own country and our own individual destinies. The voters of Santa Rosa City Laguna Philippines will never allow gangster Alipon's evil corruptions to contaminate and destroy their homes and livelihoods again. PEOPLE POWER RULES! MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS! VIVA PEOPLE POWER!" - Angel Tugado

Education scientist Sugata Mitra tackles one of the greatest problems of education -- the best teachers and schools don't exist where they're needed most. In a series of "hole in the wall" experiments from New Delhi to South Africa to Italy he gave poor kids in deprived areas self-supervised access to computers and the internet, producing results that have already revolutionized how the whole world now thinks about teaching. Santa Rosa is not alone. Santa Rosa City is not isolated. Santa Rosa City Laguna Philippines is part of a multinational global network that's bringing the world closer together at an increasingly rapid pace. President Aquino has expressed his determination to empower and energize a new cutting-edge agenda that will inspire Pinoys and Pinays everywhere to sweep the Philippines off its feet into the First World as an Asian country to be reckoned with alongside China, India, Japan and Korea while cleaning up our economy to match the high standards of Singapore and Hong Kong.
We are so lucky to take part in this exciting era of our great nation's history.

Kiran Bir Sethi has launched an initiative to make our cities more child-friendly. She looks beyond what exists to ask: "could we do this a better way?" and in 2001 she founded the Riverside School in Ahmedabad, its curriculum and its building from the ground up. Based around six "Beacons of Learning," Sethi's lesson plan focuses on creating curious, competent future citizens. Her latest project, inspired by dialogue with the children of Riverside, is called AProCh -- which stands for "A Protagonist in every Child." Fighting the stereotype image of modern kids as rude and delinquent, it looks for ways to engage children in city life, and to revamp cities to enable kids to learn, actively and by example. "It is possible to organize cities to teach usefulness, social responsibility, ecological skill, the values of good work, and the higher possibilities of adulthood." (video courtesy of TED.com)

"Twenty six years ago, we removed a dictator by harnessing our strength as a people. We are urging again the people to harness that power, this time to remove the crown of Chief Justice from Corona's head. This new type of people power must be based on active citizenship, informed actions and strong vigilance. Corona is counting on the people to embrace apathy and pessimism while his defense team distracts them with their courtroom antics and legal drama. We will not give Corona that opportunity." - Akbayan spokesperson Risa Hontiveros
- P'Noy Aquino, February 2012

Are we again going to allow those who caused suffering in the country to return to power? No. I don't think we are going to allow that to happen." - P'Noy Aquino, February 2012
Manuel Manoy Alipon is sneakily now trying to get back the corrupt
stranglehold on barangay Balibago that he had before Voter Power
booted him out of City Hall.
"Our country is now facing a crossroad. In one direction is the weedy path, where the influential holds the scales of justice and those who manipulate the law benefit. In the other is the straight path where the rules are clear, justice favours no one and those who are at fault are made answerable. Let's remember: Martial law happened because Filipinos kept silent for too long. As was said way before, 'Kung hindi ka kikilos, sino pa? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan pa?' Let us now move before it's too late. Let us now move so that we can quickly leave behind the darkness in the past."- P'Noy Aquino, February 2012
Following church persuasion, to protect the innocent, including honest

"For us who are a people of faith, Christians and Muslims alike, it is

prayer, in our trust of a loving father, in loving sacrifice of self
for the greater good of all. The problems of peace and poverty, social
justice and good governance are concerns of everyone, and everyone must
do his or her share."

Delayed returns often mean that corrupt officials are still holding out
for the highest bribes. Alipon falsified results in 2007 by bribing
election officials and buying votes. Don't allow him or his relatives
or cronies or
any of his unlawfully armed staff to tamper in any way with future
election results. Alipon has proved to us that he cannot be trusted - not now and not ever.
What the people want and voted for is an honest younger representative
who honors all the people who vote for him, respects the law, loves his
wife and children, serves his constituents and dignifies the public
office of City Vice Mayor.
This is what ARNEL GOMEZ brings with his commitment to serve the
interests of the good people of Santa Rosa.
"Look around you at Balibago's traffic congestion, the flooding of the
roads in the rainy season, the sidewalks unsafe to walk on, the stench
of sewage, the general filth of trash everywhere in the streets, the
unregulated belching exhaust fumes of jeeps, tricycles and trucks, the
unhealthy suffocating air pollution, the poor starving children forced
to beg for food. These are all the result of Manuel Manoy Alipon's many
corrupt years as Barangay Chairman. All he has ever done is make
himself rich through graft, corruption and misappropriating public
funds in crooked deals with his cronies." - Angry resident of Balibago, January 2007
"If you want to remain in the old system, go ahead and pretend to be deaf. Pretend to be blind. Don't speak. Don't participate. But if you believe that there's something wrong in the system and that this has to be corrected, let's go and push back (Tara, pumalag tayo). Let's participate. Let's make it right." - P'Noy Aquino, February 2012
In contrast with Manuel Manoy Alipon's decadent barangay and city
corruptions, we now have a new President who is fighting to eradicate
corruption at every level of government. Already his reforms are
bringing billions of dollars of new investment in the Philippines from
huge global corporations down to small and medium sized foreign
companies as they have now regained confidence in our nation's
progress. At last the future is looking good for every Filipino, but we
need to ensure that corrupt politicians like Alipon are never elected
again to rob the people and enrich themselves. People Power has proved
that YOUR

"Here
at last is the person who was elected president by the biggest majority
since the return of democracy in 1986 who humbly put himself below the
true masters of this country, the sovereign people he called his boss.
President Noynoy promised to lead by example. He expressed the words as
if he has read our minds for he knew fully well that that is his call.
He has sworn to serve and promised to lead, an invitation to all of us
to help him carry the cross and share in the burden. The appeal is
Kennedyesque in essence, a declaration of war on the odds we all need
to face and to fight if we expect to see our dreams realized." - Ramon Mayaga,
Philippine Daily Inquirer
"Kids already do a lot of learning from adults, and we have a lot to
share. I think that adults should start learning from kids. For better
or worse, we kids aren't hampered as much when it comes to thinking
about reasons why not to do things. Kids can be full of inspiring
aspirations and hopeful thinking, like my wish that no one went hungry.
Sometimes a knowledge of history and the past failures of utopian
ideals can be a burden. On the other hand, we kids still dream about
perfection. And that's a good thing because in order to make anything a
reality, you have to dream about it first. Now, adults seem to have a
prevalently restrictive attitude towards kids from every "don't do
that," "don't do this" in the school handbook, to restrictions on
school internet use. As history points out, regimes become oppressive
when they're fearful about keeping control." - Adora Svitak
"Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should
treat it with the same status. Entrepreneurs are creative people who
have ideas and passions or see these needs in the world and decide to
stand up and do it. And I think if we could get kids to embrace the
idea, at a young age, of being entrepreneurial, we could change
everything in the world that is a problem today." - Cameron Herold
